Pharmacy OneSource Announces Free Webinar on Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia

Results of Six-Year Initiative to Prevent Healthcare-Associated Infection

Bellevue, Wash. – Wolters Kluwer Health announced today that Pharmacy OneSource, software-as-a-service provider of Sentri7, an infection prevention surveillance, documentation and reporting application, is hosting a complimentary webinar with Coretha Weaver, RN, BSN, CIC, in "Preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia: A Six Year Experience."

Weaver will provide an overview of the progress made nationally with preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) over the past six years. She will discuss the initiation and progression of the VAP project at Erlanger Health System and the ongoing team approach they have established to keep the work moving forward. She will discuss some of the successes, failures, and confounding issues the team has encountered over the past six years and their plans for the future to prevent VAP.

About the Presenter: Coretha Weaver, RN, BSN, CIC, graduated from the U.S. Army Clinical Specialist Course in 1974 with a diploma and served in several military medical facilities in the US and Germany until 1976. She graduated from the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing in 1980 with a Bachelors degree in Nursing. She has served as a staff nurse and nurse manager for multiple critical care units over a 17 year period at Grady Health System in Atlanta, Georgia. She began her career as an infection preventionist at Grady in 1994 and was certified in IP in 1997.

Currently, she serves as coordinator for Infection Prevention for the Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, Tennessee since 2000. Her responsibilities include managing the infection prevention program for a 533-bed, five facility, regional teaching and Level 1 trauma center. She has held a number of offices in the Greater Chattanooga APIC chapter and currently serves as Legislative representative. Weaver is a member of the Multidisciplinary Advisory Group for Preventing Infections in Healthcare Facilities sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Health, and member of the Tennessee Hospital Association’s Tennessee Patient Safety Center Data Subcommittee Group.
