Gardere’s Lowenberg Appointed to Dallas County Trail and Preserve Program Board

DALLAS - Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP is proud to announce that Partner and General Counsel Michael Lowenberg has been appointed by the Commissioners Court to serve on the Dallas County Trail and Preserve Program Board.

The board recommends, promotes and facilitates the acquisition of land to serve the open space needs of the people of Dallas County.

Recognizing that the Dallas area’s rapid urbanization was also significantly reducing the area’s supply of undeveloped land and threatening some of its more environmentally unique features, Dallas County first began establishing an open space system in 1976. The system now contains 21 preserves and almost 3,300 acres across Dallas County. The preserves are designed to resemble national parks rather than neighborhood playgrounds or athletic fields and offer a variety of topographical, geological and environmental experiences.

Mr. Lowenberg has served as Gardere’s general counsel since 2008. He has been a business litigator at the trial and appellate levels for more than 40 years. He has substantial experience in intellectual property litigation and the defense of class actions. He is also active as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association’s Commercial Panel. He recently finished three terms on the Dallas County Historical Commission, where he served as chairman, and also served on the board of the Sixth Floor Museum.
