Attorney Shawn Eyestone has a plan to give back to the community.

Grandville, Michigan - Inspirational words are what West Michigan Attorney Shawn Eyestone heard one Sunday, as guest preacher, Kevin Rigg of Up and Out Ministries gave his sermon. Those words sparked Mr. Eyestone to create an incentive program, benefiting charitable organizations with roots or branches in the West Michigan area.
Kevin Rigg’s sermon told of a wealthy man who wanted to find a way to give back for the blessings God had given him. This man was going to leave his lucrative business and go build orphanages in a poverty stricken part of the world. Kevin Rigg assured the man that the people would be better served with a donation instead of the donated time of a laborer with no construction skills. He explained that, while God did not give him the ability to construct buildings, he did give him the ability to make money.
“That sermon got me thinking about my own life”, said Attorney Eyestone. “… I have struggled throughout my career to find a meaningful way of using my gifts in a Christ-like manner. I am a hands-on person, so I wanted to find a hands-on way to give to and advocate for the causes I care about. Knowing that any shoddy construction I might attempt would not necessarily be the best use of my skills, I started thinking on and praying on what I could do.”
The program, called Eye on the Community, encourages clients of Mr. Eyestone’s law firm to make donations to selected charities. Beginning in April, the program will feature two charitable organizations every two months. Eyestone Law Offices, PLC will provide its clients a credit for donations made to selected charities for up to 10% of the amount invoiced for legal services.
The first organizations to benefit in April and May will be: Kevin Rigg’s own Up and Out Ministries, which provides mentorship and other services to West Michigan inner-city children; and Cherry Street Health Services/Grand Rapids Lions Vision Clinic, which provides low cost vision care to patients at its new facilities in Grand Rapids and will also benefit during these two months from a up to 6:1 match from other sources. This unique, one year program will run through March of 2012.

Eyestone Law Offices, PLC was founded in 2007 and opened offices in Grandville and Muskegon in 2010 to provide high-quality legal services to business and estate planning clients that are affordable, efficient and practical.
