Photron's New IDP Express R-2000 System for High Speed, Real-Time Image Processing

Photron's New IDP Express R-2000 System for High Speed, Real-Time Image Processing

Photron, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high speed cameras and image analysis software, introduces the new IDP Express R2000 system, for high speed, real-time image processing. The R2000 features an onboard field-programmable gate array (FPGA) to provide experienced developers unique access to the high-speed open-ended architecture.

The new system supports one or two of Photron’s miniature CMOS high speed camera heads at full or reduced resolution and speed. It is available in two configurations, without the FPGA and with an XILINX FPGA. Without the FPGA, the R2000 operates in a typical, high-speed image acquisition capacity, writing image data directly to the host computer’s RAM. Operating with the XILINX FPGA, the R-2000-F enables real-time hardware-based pre-processing while recording the event.

Photron offers a multitude of high speed imaging solutions with a full range of cameras from miniature to high definition, including the world’s fastest high speed imager, the Fastcam SA-X, operating at up to 1.4 million frames per second. The company’s award-winning camera control and image acquisition software, Photron’s Fastcam Viewer (PFV), now supporting both LabVIEW and MATLAB, is also available as a free download via the company’s website.
