Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck’s 2011 Season Kicks Off June 25

(Center Moriches, NY) — Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck announced it will open its 2011 summer camp on June 25, marking its sixty-fourth year of serving children with special needs and making it a place where summer is for everyone. Located on the shores of Kaler’s Pond on Eastern Long Island, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck’s 37-acre site provides children up to age twenty-one with physical and developmental challenges the opportunity to take part in a variety of summer activities such as swimming, boating, arts and crafts, talent shows, cook-outs and games. Educational activities in nature, arts, fire safety, and communication skills are also offered.

Every camp season has nine different sessions, each focused on working through the campers’ challenges with two separate age groups. The 2011 sessions are:

6-14 years old
IV Sunday, July 17– Saturday, July 22 Physically & Developmentally challenged including Autism
18-29 years old*
V Monday, July 25 - Saturday, July 30 Physically & Developmentally challenged including Autism
6-14 years old
VI Monday, Aug. 1 - Saturday, Aug. 6 Physically & Developmentally challenged including Autism
15-21 years old
VII Tuesday, Aug. 9 – Sunday, Aug. 14 Physically & Developmentally challenged including Autism
6-14 years old
VIII Tuesday, Aug. 16 – Sunday, Aug. 21 Physically & Developmentally challenged including Autism
15-21 years old
IX Wednesday, Aug. 24 – Monday, Aug. 29 Physically & Developmentally challenged including Autism
6-14 years old
* Only campers between these ages will be able to register for this session.
Each session is designed to help the campers achieve equality, dignity, and maximum independence through a safe and quality program of camping, recreation, and education in a summertime environment. The camp aims to help each child reach beyond the limits of their physical and mental challenges, encouraging them to join fellow campers in activities.
Tuition is $735 per session. Check-in time is between 9 a.m. and noon. Checkout is by 11 a.m. A late fee of $25 will be imposed if a camper is not picked up by checkout time.

About Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck
Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck was created by members of the Moriches Rotary Club in 1946. Located on the shores of Kaler's Pond on eastern Long Island, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck is funded entirely by donations and is a special place where children with physical and developmental disabilities can experience first hand the pleasures that an active life has to offer. Children participate in a wide range of activities especially designed for youngsters who are in wheelchairs as well as those who are ambulatory. These activities include swimming, boating, arts and crafts, petting zoo, talent shows, cook-outs, games and a Carnival Day. The program also provides educational activities in areas such as nature, arts, fire safety and communication skills.
