SAN DIEGO, CA – April 11, 2019 – Fitness is My Sickness (FIMS) is excited to announce its first Community Fitness Program Fundraiser! The local gym is looking to expand its clientele to include a variety of communities in San Diego, including seniors, the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, victims of domestic violence, group homes, troubled youth, and those with disabilities.

According to the CDC, about 33% of San Diego adults are overweight, and 26% are obese. In addition, almost 30% of San Diego children are overweight. This is a driving force that inspires Fitness is My Sickness to increase its services and bring in more communities of San Diego.

Fitness is My Sickness’ goal is to raise $10,000 to provide free fitness and nutrition classes to those in the community, in the hopes of making the city of San Diego a healthier and happier place to live. Each dollar raised will help cover the cost of equipment, instructors and food for the nutrition and fitness classes.

Gym owner Monique Allen is happy to continue opening her gym up to the various communities around San Diego, saying “We are so excited to announce this fundraiser, and bring the opportunity of free fitness and nutrition classes to the underserved communities of San Diego!”

If you would like to donate or learn more information about this fundraiser, please visit fimswomen.com/community-fitness.
