In the early 20th century, Joe ‘Daddy Burt’ Burton and the Burton family were the largest hemp farmers in all of Kentucky. Now, in 2019, great-grandson of Daddy Burt, Bob Estes is rekindling that family legacy. The Burton family began growing hemp over a century ago in Lexington, Kentucky. When the country needed hemp products during WWII, Daddy Burt answered the call. He increased the family farming operations to produce one of the largest hemp crops in Kentucky history. His operations were recognized by the USDA War Board and used in the Hemp for Victory campaign of 1942, encouraging Kentucky farmers to grow hemp for the war effort.

The company received over $500,000 in investment, mainly from Z Capital Partners based out of Ohio, in order to rekindle the family legacy.
