BRAND NEW LGBT+ PODCAST VOWS TO HOLD MEDIA TO ACCOUNT

Setting The Record Bent is a brand new LGBT+ podcast for 2019, promising to tackle topics which are so often misinterpreted in the mainstream media.

Brainchild of marketer Stefan Evans (Social Chain) and DJ James Bowers (Gaydio), the podcast focuses on trending topics within regard to the LGBT+ community, promising to set the record bent on all of the biggest queer calamities facing our generation.

The first episode ‘Drag Race UK’ was released at the beginning of February to acclaim, resulting in the Evans and Bowers being invited to BBC Five Live to discuss the subject matter (4,965,000 weekly listeners).

Speaking about the premise of the podcast, Stefan Evans says: “LGBT+ issues are often presented in the media from a place of ignorance. We think it’s really important that LGBT+ people are involved in this kind of coverage, at the end of the day, it’s our lives being discussed”.

James Bowers adds: “We value honesty, acceptance, and alternative perspectives on current affairs - but above all, we approach every episode with an open mind. This is balanced by our fundamental promise to ask challenging questions which the mainstream may dismiss as on the periphery - we want to provide a voice for those who feel they don’t have one.”

Episode 1 – ‘Drag Race UK’ and Episode 2 – ‘Flying The Flag’ (a conversation surrounding Manchester Pride’s controversial black and brown striped rainbow flag) are available to stream today. With new episodes being released every fortnight with guests such as Gareth Joyner (Myra Dubois), Paul Marks-Jones (University of Manchester) and Kiera Lawlor (Director of Happiness at Social Chain).
