Wemtech Group Celebrates Two Decades Of CE Marking Success

04-01-2011 07:58 PM CET | Business, Economy, Finances, Banking & Insurance

Press release from: The Blue Cube

Wemtech, an independent non-profit making organisation who assist manufacturers in understanding and carrying out CE marking, recently celebrated over 20 years in business.

Wemtech offer services including training, information resources, consultancy and funding to small and medium sized businesses that need assistance with CE marking and product compliance.

Wemtech was one of a number of regional technology centres that were opened in 1989 to provide help and support to small and medium sized enterprises. The initiative was established by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), but the majority of the centres were disbanded in 1993 in favour of the Business Link and Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS).

Wemtech became the only centre that remained active and was quickly re established as ‘The West Midlands EMC Club’, one of several regional clubs that were intended to help manufacturers get ready for the new CE Markings directives which were introduced in the mid 1990’s. A spokesperson for Wemtech explained that a professional approach and meticulous attention to detail had ensured Wemtech’s continued growth when similar companies had fallen by the wayside. He commented:

“(Wemtech is) recognised as an authoritative and innovative centre of excellence in product compliance, enabling manufacturers to maintain a competitive advantage”.

In 2003, after a long period of successful growth, Wemtech, which was still operating as a not-for-profit company, branched out to offer training and consultancy services. Wemtech also purchased Consultancy and Technical Services in the same year, registering this new company as Wemtech CTS - a commercial operation that provides technical testing and assessment services which companies need to ensure they meet their CE Marking obligations.

The Wemtech group now incorporates Wemtech, Wemtech CTS and the CE Marking Association and continues to demonstrate success in the CE Marking and product compliance field, providing an extensive range of services under the banner of the CE Marking Association.

Some of the businesses and manufacturers that Wemtech have helped include Focal Earth, rail logistics solutions specialists, Dingley Dell Enterprises, who developed a wood burning pizza oven for commercial use, Harry West Machines, a manufacturer of agricultural farm machinery and Atlas Clinical, who developed a range of chiropractic beds.

Wemtech’s well established client base continues to grow, as does their reputation for providing a high quality, professional service to all their clients. Wemtech pride themselves on the diversity of their client base which covers a variety of different industries. The company hopes that their growth and success will continue for the next twenty years.
