C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre is a Centre of Excellence of the Ministry of Environment and Forests , Government of India, established jointly by the Ministry and the C.P. Ramaswami Aiyar Foundation. C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre in collaboration with the British High Commission, New Delhi implemented a project on Biodiversity Conservation through Capacity Building. The objective of the project was to provide participants an understanding of the design and nature of sustainable development programmes.C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre strives to increase awareness and knowledge of key target groups (school children, local communities, woman etc.) about the various aspects of environment.Environmental laws play a vital role in the control of environmental pollution and conservation. Environmental laws with its claws, paws and jaws, are formulated to preserve and protect our environment.Cpreec has been actively involved and provided valuable inputs for developing the curriculum for environmental education in schools at the national as well as the state level. C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre has been working with women under the ‘Women and Eco-development’ programme, which is a part of the rural eco-development initiative.The Board of Governors of the C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre decided to institute an annual C. P. R. Environmental Education Centre Award for Environmental Education.CPREEC has its own monitoring & assessment programmes as a part of its lab services. The Centre regularly conducts water, air & soil analyses over a wide range of physical and chemical parameters. C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre was awarded the Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar 1996 for its significant contribution in the field of environment education and nature conservation.C P R Environmental Education Centre operates and maintains a laboratory that deals with various aspects of environmental testing, research and development. The laboratory combines the most sophisticated equipments together with a skilled team of analysts in order to provide reliable testing services.The reference library at C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre has a sizable collection of books, periodicals, reports, journals, videos and CDs, covering a wide range of topics including ecology, biodiversity,ecological heritage and environmental law.For more information, Visit us at:
