MacLaren Announces Business Art Leasing Program
The MacLarenArtCentre announces a new program that brings art to people. An Art Leasing service will be launched during Administrative Professionals week, April 22-28 2007. Works from well known Canadian artists that are currently part of the MacLaren’s outreach collection are being offered for lease for a period of one year. The outreach collection is defined as a piece of art that has been given to the MacLaren as a gift to provide education and enjoyment to the viewing public, The Great Thinker on the corner of Mulcaster and Collier is one such example.
Some of these works have been exhibited at the MacLaren and are considered very collectible by Canadian art authorities. The works include original photographs by Stephen Patterson, prints by Canadian artists Ron Bolt, Carl Beam and Iain Baxter.
Members of Simcoe county’s business community are invited to come for lunch on either April 26th or 27th, at the gallery with their administrative and support staff, to choose work(s) of art that they would enjoy in their offices. Leasing cost would be 3% of the value per month. The initial lease cost may be deducted off the purchase price.
The MacLaren plans to expand this service to individuals soon. The gallery also welcomes the general public to join their existing Benefactor Program. Members of this program receive a work of art loaned to the gallery by a regional artist for $1.00 a day, and one of these works may hang in your home for up to a year.
One of the MacLaren’s goals is to have more art available to the public. These two programs will help to achieve that end. For more information on the art leasing program please call Pat Souter at 722-8631or email psouter@rogers.com or Jennifer Campbell at 726-5894 or email at gcampbellg138@rogers.com.
