This type of service is a great option for people who commute to work using rideshare services or public transportation, work from home, college students, and retirees. Mile Auto will not insure people who drive more than 11,500 miles a year.

Mile Auto also offers high coverage limits, rental reimbursement, roadside assistance, uninsured motorist and custom equipment coverage.

A big privacy concern with per-mile insurance are the devices that are used to calculate mileage. Unlike its competitors, Mile Auto does not track people’s driving using a smartphone app or devices that plug directly into the insured car. Instead, policyholders will receive a text asking for their odometer reading. They can respond with a picture of their odometer and Mile Auto calculates the distance and bill accordingly.
