Compass Memory Support at Hopkinton
At Compass at Hopkinton, we treat and care for seniors with all levels of dementia. As residents age in place and care needs may increase, they have the option of choosing from among the following enhanced level of on-site services:
-A “house call” from one of several area Physicians and Nurse Practitioners;
-Through our affiliation with the Boston University School of Medicine’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center, our Resident Care Director has direct access to leading clinicians who consult on resident behaviors or other concerns;
-Skilled nursing care from several visiting nurse agencies, including Angels at Home - who are now establishing a Wellness Center right in our Compass neighborhood to provide skilled nursing and rehabilitation services;
-A visiting geriatric-specialized Psychiatrist who works directly with residents’ primary care physicians, families and our Resident Care Director on issues relating to residents’ anxieties;
-Physical, occupational and speech therapy services provided at an on-site rehabilitation clinic operated by SunDance Rehabilitation Agency. The clinic features a full rehab gym, offering our residents access to exercise equipment and therapists to work on balance exercises and strength-training;
-If ever needed, a resident can receive a pureed diet and/or nutrition feeding assistance, incontinence care, and limited administration of medications through a nursing professional;
-A Diabetes Management Program, offered through the visiting nurse agency, is designed to meet the needs of diabetic seniors who are prescribed insulin. Often, physicians recommend that an elder with diabetes not remain at home if it is likely that they will not be able to manage the disease safely. Through close collaboration with the resident’s Endocrinologist, as well as on-site monitoring and education, residents with diabetes can remain safe and medically stable in our community.
In addition to all of our day-long and evening therapeutic activity programs, our community offers other unique benefits not often found in other Alzheimer’s care settings:
-Intergenerational Activities: The on-site “Golden Goose Academy”, a pre-school daycare that serves over 75 children! Our Program Director works with Golden Goose teachers to create intergenerational programming that both our residents and the children enjoy. At least twice weekly we hear the “pitter patter” of children skipping down our hallway. Residents spend this time reading nursery rhymes, joining in sing-alongs, and helping the children make crafts;
-A lovely beauty/barber salon, a chapel where we attend religious services, a cozy library, and several gorgeous outdoor walkways and patios. Every day residents are given the option of spending time outdoors, going for a walk, or attending scheduled entertainment events.
Our array of enhanced services, combined with access to all the Golden Pond Assisted Living campus has to offer, meets the needs that a senior with memory loss has - medical, social, nutritional, physical, and spiritual.
I invite you to call me or stop in to learn more about Compass Memory Support here in Hopkinton!
Sincerely,
Tadd Clelland
