Press release from: European Business Television

Qatar Education Conference & Exhibition, London – 7th & 8th June 2011

Qatar is one of the richest and fastest growing nations in the world today. Whilst Oil and natural gas exports remain its strongest economic platform; Qatar is now renowned for its strategic shift of ‘modernization and reform’ towards its private sector by developing and energizing its sports, education and health fields.

Remarkably winning the bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup and signing FC Barcelona’s richest deal yet with sponsorship for shirts, has not only placed Qatar firmly amongst many sporting frontrunners, but has and continues to present endless opportunities for Qatar, its Middle Eastern neighbours and regions beyond.

On the backbone of this, Qatar pledges great importance, commitment and a huge financial investment into Education and the development of a ‘knowledge economy’; a solid movement in advancing its human capital with the goal of making it one of the most effective knowledge-driven societies in the world.

Education City in Doha is proof of Qatar’s keen commitment in transforming itself into a knowledge gateway of the world. Created by Qatar Foundation and chaired by HH Sheikha Moza, Education City boasts an impressive and famously designed 1,000-hectare campus housing a hand-picked selection of elite International Universities; specialising in education, technology, scientific research and community development. With only one-third of the complex completed, the city provides enormous opportunities for potential Institutions looking to ride this wave.

October 2010 saw Qatari-British relations re-establishing their historic ties with a welcomed visit to the UK from HH Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Here he addressed his desire to enrich its bilateral relations with the UK, whilst Britain too hoped to build on this cooperation with Qatar in various areas. London-based European Business Television (EBTV) has taken the initiative in organising this education-based Conference & Exhibition on 7th & 8th of June in London - ‘Qatar Education’- to showcase this commitment and investment in Qatari education to an extensive UK and International audience.

EBTV has created and broadcast corporate films, ad campaigns and dedicated internet TV channels for over 150 clients worldwide, with more than half in the Middle East. These include brand names such as Bulgari, Dove and in the GCC region; Sorouh, Masraf Al Rayan, Hamad Medical Corporation, Meeza and other major industry players. EBTV was also media Partner to the 2022 Qatar Bid Committee. Their skills and expertise include film production, creative design, events promotion & management and media consultancy services.

With the incredible support from Qatar University, the conference will allow prestigious educational and training institutions, technology providers, research and development communities, educational foundations, ministries and renowned keynote speakers, to work with their Qatari counterparts to evaluate educational needs, opportunities and future relations.

‘Qatar Education’ aims to become one of the leading International specialised events in building strong global partnerships, exchanging knowledge among the many organisations committed to education and inspiring development in building this knowledge-driven society. The event is creating opportunities and relationships in driving Qatar’s proposals on educating its workforce to the highest global standards.
