IDP Education Announces Expansion of Student Placement Services into Turkey

Press release from: IDP Education Pty Ltd

Local market expert Carl Holtman will lead the launch of IDP Education’s student placement operations in Turkey, starting in Istanbul, May 2011

Philadelphia, PA, February 23, 2011 -- The world’s largest student placement firm, IDP Education, is about to get larger. The organization announced that it will add Turkey to its network of more than 20 source countries with professional counseling services.

Starting in Istanbul in May 2011, professional IDP counselors will work with students to match them to higher education institutions in Australia, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

This is the latest development in IDP’s ongoing efforts to expand its successful student counseling operations. In 2010, the company moved its Middle East headquarters to Cairo, Egypt, and added Libya as a source country, joining Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain.

Leading the Istanbul office as IDP’s Turkey country director will be Carl Holtman, who has a long history in international education, most recently serving as the director of ELS' American Education Center in Istanbul.

"The addition of a market expert like Carl helps put IDP at the forefront of student recruitment in Turkey,” says Maher El Bakry, IDP's Middle East regional director. “IDP will be the first agency certified by the American International Recruitment Council (AIRC) to operate in Turkey, and with the strength of the IDP Education brand under Carl’s guidance, we expect to help many undergraduate and graduate students, both publicly supported and privately financed, realize their dream of studying overseas.”

Various sources agree that IDP’s four destination countries are the top four destinations for Turkish students. IDP currently represents more than 125 universities and numerous other higher education options in these four locations.

Reports Holtman, “The Turkish market has a slight bias toward graduate programs, but the number of students interested in undergraduate and transfer options is continuing to rise. There is also a high level of interest in ESL programs and a growing awareness of the 2+2 opportunities afforded by community colleges.”

“This,” Holtman says, “means Turkey provides a wide variety of opportunities for all of IDP’s higher education partners. I am honored and excited to help expand the reach of these prestigious institutions into such a key market.”
