Press release from: SECUDE International AG

Zurich, 22 February 2007– SECUDE International AG presents SECUDE secure notebook 8.0 - the next generation of its popular notebook encryption solution at this year’s CeBIT, Hall 7, Booth B57. SECUDE trustmanager, the innovative smart card and token management solution, has also been extended with a broad range of new features which, for the first time, will be exposed to the experts from March 15 to 21.

SECUDE secure notebook reliably protects confidential business or personal data on notebooks and desktops and external mass storage devices from unauthorized third party access. Unlike other solutions SECUDE secure notebook encrypts the entire hard disk rather than just individual files or folders, which means it protects temporary files, swap files, hibernation files and even the operating system itself.

Security is extended to the highest level through the use of a Linux based pre-boot authentication (PBA) system prior to starting Windows - increasing the range of hardware supported particularly in regard to new hard disks and further system components. Pre-boot authentication is achieved with either User ID plus password or smartcard/security token plus PIN. The option to choose authentication methods allows businesses more flexibility in choosing their desired security level. On demand, the ability to incorporate smartcards and security tokens offers a higher level of security with two-factor authentication methods.

SECUDE secure notebook also features single sign-on to Windows and Novell, saving users the time and trouble of an additional logon. A single authentication is now sufficient, eliminating waiting periods and increasing end user satisfaction.

Thus SECUDE secure notebook version 8.0 is a milestone in hard disc encryption - no other product available at the market provides this combination of high security and user convenience to deliver a low total cost of ownership.

SECUDE trustmanager is an innovative security device management solution. It provides numerous functions necessary for issuing and managing digital certificates, smart cards and soft token. SECUDE trustmanager version 5.8 supports a broad bandwidth of smart cards and security token for an easy and secure user authentication via single sign-on. These include highly secure smart cards certified to ITSEC E4 that protect against attackers with specialist knowledge and resources.

SECUDE trustmanager version 5.8 now also offers the possibility to easily issue day cards as well as temporary token with limited validity which can be withdrawn effortlessly after usage. With SECUDE signon 5.8 smart cards can now be integrated that rely on Siemens CardOS Version 4.2 and Version 4.3b. In addition, SECUDE signon 5.8 supports the Giesecke&Devrient Starcos 3.0 smart card. Both permit a user to make use of RSA keys up to a length of 2048 bit, which guarantee a high security level over the long term, and thus meet even the highest requirements regarding security.

In addition, version 5.8 now supports companies even better in imposing security policies company-wide. This also comprises the capability to set and impose a user PIN policy. Thereby, a comprehensive solution is at company’s disposal enhancing security significantly and providing all the functions necessary for an easy and efficient management of smart cards, token and certificates throughout their lifetime.
