New International Academy of Coaching Sciences launched

Zurich, February 18, 2011 - The new International Academy of Coaching Sciences is founded in Zurich, Switzerland. The Academy is a non-university research institution, and provides researchers a platform for scientific exchange. The Academy is at the rank of an Academy of Sciences.

Subject of the International Academy of Coaching Sciences is coaching as a scientific discipline. The Academy bridges the gap of the developing research field of coaching. Up to now, coaching was hardly been explored by scientific research. The Academy’s first research projects are „Coaching as a new scientific virgin“, „Coaching and Effec-tiveness Research“, „Neuro-Coaching“, „Coaching, a Tool for Top and Middle Man-agement“, „Coaching for Expatriates“, and „Coaching in Finance“.

The aim of the International Academy of Coaching Sciences is to advance the subject-specific and interdisciplinary research in the field of coaching and related areas. The Academy bridges the gap between coaching scientific research and the practice to coach. Of particular importance is the Academy for coaching relevant challenges re-lated to the modern business and working environment.

Founding President of the Academy is Professor Dr. Robert Weimar, Germany.

The International Academy of Coaching Sciences is one of the scientific institutions with the rank of an academy of sciences. The Academy is an association of worldwide cooperating scientists and scientific institutions in the area of coaching and its neighboring disciplines. Its domicile is Zurich, Switzerland. Its conception is to promote fundamental, professional, and interdisciplinary research in the field of coaching and related areas.

A special importance of the Academy is its international activity.

As of its purpose, structure, and level of activity the Academy is an institution of non-university research.

To this, referre to the sub-item “programs” under the main item “research” .

The Academy understands itself as an autonomous research and development institution and is the world's first institution of its kind. It bridges the gap between coaching scientific research and the practice to coach.

The International Academy of Coaching Sciences
- understands itself as an autonomous research and development institution
- consists of a circle of selected researchers, which are identified by outstanding scientific achievements
- provides its members at the academical events the opportunity to discuss interdisciplinary about scientific insights in the coaching area and its neighboring disciplines, and to lecture on new scientific developments
- strives to integrate the existing and emerging coaching approaches, and developes them continuously
- is able to initiate and to manage research projects at a high scientific level, as of its orientation
- bridges the gap between coaching scientific research and the practice to coach
- is the world's first institution of its kind.

As of its scientific and organizational established alignment and in the tradition of the academical thought, the Academy has a central task for the coaching relevant problems of modern business and working environment within the context of its assembled sciences.

The Academy is a body under private law. Its legal form is an association with corporate constitution according to article 60 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code.
