"Tart Card" campaign causes stir at Venturefest Yorkshire 2011
“Tart Cards” causes a stir at Venturefest Yorkshire 2011Selby / 16 Feb 2011
Cheeky local graphic design company, Inchpunch Design & Communication, caused a real stir at this year Venturefest Yorkshire event held at York Race Course with their risqué guerrilla marketing campaign.
The quirky campaign involved sticking hundreds of sexy “Tart Card” inspired business cards in all the men’s and women’s toilets throughout the prestigious Knavesmire Stand.
The Inchpunch Design team (Craig Hymes, Siobhan Hymes and Dean Chapman) also sported brightly coloured t-shirts displaying enlarged versions of their saucy artwork.
When questioned as to his inspiration for the campaign Craig explained “Venturefest Yorkshire brings together the region's finest professional services and world-class business speakers. As you can imagine it is a very corporate environment so we wanted to introduce some fun, excitement and humour into the proceedings.”
“The brightly coloured tart cards certainly achieved this” Craig continued. “While we were busy sticking these up in the toilets we could hear visitors laughing and talking to each other about them. Then as we walked around the exhibitors area, visitors were continually approaching us to say what a fantastic idea it was and well done. Several people even wanted us to pose for photographs”
Unfortunately the event organisers didn’t share the same view as the attendees and ordered the instant removal of all the cards. But by this time many of the visitors had already witnessed the sassy spectacle.
Undeterred, Craig concluded on a very positive note. “The campaign proved a huge success and the feedback we have received has been phenomenal. Hopefully a few more businesses across the Yorkshire region will remember Inchpunch Design and the highly creative (if quirky) range of design services we offer.”
