Post Workout : Hair Care Routine by Dr Chytra V Anand
You need to give your hair some special care post workout to ensure that it is top shape as the rest of you. Here’s what you need to do:
Rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water in the shower. This ensures you are washing off the sweat that builds up on your scalp.
Use a mild shampoo. Take a coin size amount of shampoo in your palm, rub it together and then apply it on the scalp and hair. Massage the scalp with the shampoo; going from the nape of your neck to the top of your head. Rinse off with warm water. If you tend to get itchy scalp due to sweating, then use a clarifying shampoo or a menthol-based shampoo to cool down the scalp and remove itch causing grime from the scalp.
Apply a smoothing conditioner through the mid length of your wet strands. Void going near the scalp. Rinse off with warm water and give your hair a blast of cold water under the shower to seal the cuticles and add shine.
Towel-dry your hair and semi dry with a hair dryer. Leave the hair little damp and then run a few drops of shine enhancing serum through the strands, focusing on the top of your hair. It will tame frizzy hair and flyaway strands. Comb using a wide toothed comb, especially if you have wavy or curly hair.
Avoid using any styling product on your hair after rigorous workout. Leave your hair and scalp to breathe.
If you are in a hurry and have no time for hair care, simply water-wash your scalp and hair to rinse out the sweat. Towel-dry your strands and apply a few drops of tea tree oil throughout your scalp to prevent bacterial infection and itchiness. Lightly blow dry and you are set to go.
