Spime Announces Availability of its MapMan® LBS Platform for Android

MapMan® is a true “Hybrid” LBS Platform integrated with Cloud Services, Applications and advertising. MapMan® powers complete LBS functionality whether connected to the Internet or NOT. Today Spime’s MapMan® LBS platform and applications are commercially deployed on Win 7 under the brand “HP Navigator” where HP is the first multi-device OEM to launch a competitive location based solution under its own brand for Netbooks, Notebooks and Tablet PCs.

Spime’s MapMan platform is now available on the Android operating system. MapMan® and applications are tightly coupled with Spime’s Cloud Based Services enabling location to be a standard component of the device software stack. MapMan® on Android comes with a map viewer, static and dynamic POI search, routing, re-routing, textual and voice guided turn by turn navigation, and location based advertising and tracking engines. MapMan® is a “Hybrid” LBS Platform. When users are not connected to the Internet MapMan® enables complete access to location, mapping, POI and navigation features. When connected, MapMan’s® Cloud Services integration provides access to all the 3rd party dynamic content, map updates and new applications. Content and services can be overlaid on top of the existing map on the device.
