Broomfield Womens Self Defense Instructor Is First to Receive Prestigious Instructor Certification

Westminster, CO (openpr) February 09, 2011 - Javier Lozano, Jr. is a women’s self-defense instructor on a mission. “My goal is to make certain every woman in the Broomfield and Westminster area has access to life saving self defense skills.” And, he’s willing to travel across the country to make sure that happens.

Recently, Mr. Lozano traveled over 900 miles to Killeen, Texas to participate in the Level II Combat Fighting Systems Self-Defense Instructor certification training course. Over three days, Mr. Lozano received training in the most efficient ways to defend against sticks, knives, broken bottles, baseball bats, box cutters, and other impact and bladed weapons.

In addition, he was the first to receive certification in Women’s Self Defense and Child Safety from his instructors, SFC Jim Mahan and Mr. Michael Massie. SFC Mahan is a three-time Iraq combat veteran, and a sniper-qualified former Army Ranger instructor with black belts in multiple martial arts. Mr. Massie is a 25-year martial arts instructor who has spent over a decade researching women’s self-defense programs, picking apart their flaws and strengths so he could create the most efficient and effective women’s self-defense training possible.

Both men are co-creators and founders of Combat Science Systems, a certification and training program for professional self-defense instructors. “Mr. Lozano is one of our most dedicated and knowledgeable instructors,” said Mr. Massie. “As a former world champion fighter, he’s been able to take what he learned in the ring and apply it to real-world self defense training. Not many pro fighters can do that, because they can’t separate competition from reality. Mr. Lozano can.”

Since receiving his certification as a Level II Combat Science Fighting Systems self defense instructor, Mr. Lozano will be hosting free workshops at his studio for women in the Broomfield CO area. “Any woman who wants to learn practical self-defense skills that are specifically designed for women can attend,” says Lozano. “No prior training is required. This women’s self defense class was created with the beginner in mind.”
