Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is laboratory technique used to amplify a single copy or a few copies of DNA segment to make several thousand to millions of copies of a particular DNA sequence. PCR has extensive applications in various fields, which includes diagnosis of infectious diseases, such as middle ear infections, tuberculosis, Lyme disease, DNA fingerprinting, paternity testing and in various other molecular research applications, such as DNA sequencing, DNA cloning, and gene expression.
