Paid Back and Proud: CESI Debt Solutions Graduates More than 6,600 Consumers from Debt Management Program in 2010

CESI Debt Solutions, a national nonprofit credit counseling agency, announced today that 6,636 consumers nationwide graduated from its debt management program in 2010. To graduate, clients pay back 100% of their credit card debts to issuers. This number is a 7% increase from 2009.

Consumers enter CESI Debt Solutions’ debt management program to regain control of their finances by paying off credit card debt in a timely manner and in many cases avoiding penalties and lowering interest rates. Clients work with counselors to set up customized payment plans and working budgets, check-in regularly with their counselors maintain those budgets, and take courses on money management and budgeting. After entering the program, clients usually pay off their credit cards much faster than if they were to do it on their own. The length a client stays on the program depends on their total debt and income.

“I had over $25,000 in credit card debt when I started the program four years ago. I graduated in November and the freedom I feel is truly indescribable.
