Press release from: Advantech Co Ltd

TAIPEI, Taiwan, February 7, 2011 – Advantech (TWSE: 2395.TW), Telco Systems and Advantech have announced a strategic partnership to deliver integrated 40G ATCA platforms. The partnership brings Telco System’s carrier-grade switching software technology and blades to Advantech’s Networks and Telecom Group. These ATCA (Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture) solutions will enable Advantech and Telco Systems to offer Tier-1 and 2 Telecom Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) a cost-effective, high quality carrier grade solution to support next generation telecom networks.

Telco Systems leverages its extensive experience in Carrier Ethernet networks to bring a carrier-grade solution to Advantech’s ATCA market. Equipped with a sophisticated, field proven switching middleware layered on top of a Linux networking operating system (BINOX™), the solution supports a wide range of Carrier Ethernet requirements including L2 switching and IPv4 and IPv6 routing as well as load balancing, MPLS, VPLS, telecom synchronization (IEEE1588, SyncE), protection and redundancy.

Advantech is at the leading edge of multi-core networking platform designs and manufacturing with a scalable range of blades and systems based on Network Processor, DSP and x86 architectures enabling OEMs to build breakthrough solutions for enterprise, data center and carrier networks. By leveraging its Taiwan-based design and manufacturing expertise it serves tier-1 and 2 TEMs and network equipment providers around the world with both standard and customized ATCA products.

“ATCA enables fast development of mission-critical telecom applications such as mobile (LTE and 4G), metro Ethernet as well as security and military applications that require high performance and high availability,” stated Avi Cohen, executive vice president of marketing and business development for Telco Systems. “By incorporating our Carrier Ethernet technology and Advantech’s extensive ATCA product portfolio, we can jointly offer a comprehensive and integrated ATCA solution.”

“The partnership gives customers a competitive advantage as we combine state-of-the-art switching, advanced load balancing, traffic management, and classification with the massive performance of next generation packet, signal and application processors. The resulting scalable systems will meet the most demanding requirements imposed by network and mobile security, deep packet inspection and video workloads” stated Franz Wei, Vice President of Advantech. “By reducing project risk and complexity at the system level, our OEM customers can get to market faster and more affordably with tested and dependable solutions. This will help our customers overcome the capacity challenges they are facing and respond more efficiently to increasing end customer demand.”

Advantech will be featuring their ATCA portfolio including Telco Systems’ T-HUB2 and T-HUB4 blades at the upcoming Mobile World Congress, 14-17 February in Barcelona, Spain. Hall 2.0 Stand 2G38.
