CFL mobile as an iPhone App with RSS functionality based on HAFAS

Hannover (2011-02-03). Luxembourg is mobile. With the new HAFAS Mobile for the iPhone, the national railway company of Luxembourg, Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL), offers its customer information on the go. The iPhone application CFL mobile keeps passengers up to date about the latest timetable information for all trains and connections in Europe. With the application, train passengers in Luxembourg and Europe can plan their trip easily and intuitively according to their needs. They get all the information and connections with one click from departure to arrival. Though, CFL mobile is designed specifically for the needs of train passengers in Europe.

HAFAS for the iPhone is Luxembourg’s international route planner. Nearby stations are displayed based on the current position via GPS. Users can search for stations. Moreover, there are additional search parameters for mode of transport, journey preferences and return trips. The station-to-station navigation describes routes with walking distances in a compact way. Google Maps make orientation easy. Connection details give information on stopovers and on the facilities on the train.

New in the solution is the integrated feedback form through with passengers can get directly in touch with CFL without leaving the application. For the first time RSS feeds have been integrated into the HAFAS Mobile solution for the iPhone. Herewith, news about the company (CFL information) or special offers as well as disruption messages (CFL traffic information) which concern the railway network in the region are sent directly to the iPhone.

In addition to CFL mobile for the iPhone, the company offers a web-based solution for all other Internet-enabled mobile devices under mobile.cfl.lu.
