Press release
GEA Process Engineering France has been selected by Madeta AS for a turn-key project in the Czech Republic
Madeta AS, a major private dairy company in the Czech Republic, has confirmed its confidence in the professionalism of GEA Group to offer a complete turn-key evaporator to process sweet whey.Thanks to the know-how and innovative design provided by its Dairy Evaporation Technical Cen-tre, GEA Group proved to be the best partner for this project.
For Madeta AS, social responsibility and environmental concerns are two important values for long term development. So when GEA came up with the best technical solution, without any compro-mise on the competitiveness or the flexibility of the plant, the choice was easy. Benefits included:
• the best energy efficiency;
• the lowest CO2 emission;
• the lowest water waste;
• and the smallest footprint.
Mr. Petr PAYER, from Madeta Technical Department states: “Industrial investments are always critical choices. In current dairy context, it is more important than ever to choose the right technol-ogy; the technical solution offered by GEA was really offering the lowest environmental impact and with the lowest running costs. Those two aspects will certainly become more and more important in the future for dairy industrials and adopting this solution was a good way to ensure our future prof-itability.”
With an evaporative capacity of 12.5 T/h this new plant limits the use of live steam to heat treat-ment so has very low energy consumption. The principle relies on the use of the Mechanical Va-pour Recompression also called MVR technology. This allows a high concentration of whey to be achieved with nearly 500kg/h less live steam than would have been used with a traditional design. This represents nearly 80 k€/year economy on running costs. Furthermore this solution offers a high level of flexibility.
To respond to the client’s expectations to invest money where it is the most fruitful, GEA has also adopted a “combi” design where the two effects of the evaporator are included in one single body. The idea was to minimize the footprint and associated costs such as those for buildings and platforms. The result is an evaporator that requires very little space and leaves good access for maintenance or for future equipment installation.
For GEA Process Engineering, this project is the success of a French-Czech team and an exam-ple of the capacity of GEA Group to export the know-how from its various technological centres worldwide using the GEA Process Engineering network.
On this specific project, which has just been commissioned, GEA Process Engineering France, the core centre of know-how for GEA Niro Dairy Evaporation, has associated its effort to GEA Process Engineering Bohemia which has a local presence in the Czech Republic. This ensures a good relationship with the coordinating company, Global Servis s.r.o., selected by Madeta for this project.
