Uri Bracha Quintet to Headline Tel Aviv Jazz Festival 2007

Tel Aviv, Israel, February 19, 2007 -- Uri Bracha, the Israeli jazz musician and composer, to headline this year's Tel Aviv Jazz Festival with a special performance called "Always with Me". The concert will be held on 22nd February at 20:30, in the Cinematheque, Tel Aviv.

Bracha, a veteran guitarist, composer and arranger of the Israeli jazz scene, has founded a new group that will perform his new and original tunes. The Bracha quintet includes Shy Maoz (Keyboard and Piano), Dima Grodtzki (Electric bass, Double Bass), Roi Oliel (Drums) and Alon Yoffe (Percussion and Vocals).

Bracha's tunes bring together the jazz tradition and various musical cultures from different places in the world such as Brazil, Africa, Yemen and the Middle East and music influenced by traditional jazz such as Miles Davis and well-known guitar players such as Pat Metheny and Paco de Lucia.

This year's 18th annual Tel-Aviv Jazz Festival will present with leading international artists like the pianist Stefano Bollani, The saxophone and clarinet player Matt Renzi along with his Trio, the Organissimo Trio from Michigan, and the American jazz vocalists Judy Wexler.

About Uri Bracha
Bracha who among his teachers are John Abercrombie and Chaim Asulin, masters a variety of guitars and on top of being a jazz musician, he is also one of the leading guitar teachers in Israel. Bracha graduated the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem in classical guitar and composition.

In 2005, Bracha released a new album, called “Origins”, which includes original tunes influenced by the Middle East, African and Latin music with Jazz. The participating artists in this album were: Eli Magen (bass), Arnon Fridman (piano), Dani Benedict (drums) and Paula Valshtein (vocals).
