Heal My PTSD Launches Virtual PTSD Support Groups

January 17, 2011 – Self-Empowered Healing Coach, Michele Rosenthal, founder of www.healmyptsd.com, will launch virtual PTSD support groups for both survivors and caregivers on February 7, 2011. Conducted via a telephone conference line, these groups will be the first of their kind to provide a live support forum for survivors and caregivers regardless of geographic location. The goal of the groups will be to provide those struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms a place to learn how to cope with, manage and strategize the PTSD treatment and recovery process.

A survivor who struggled with PTSD for over twenty-five years, Rosenthal knows first-hand what type of challenges PTSD treatment causes to arise.

“When I was working hard to overcome PTSD, I couldn’t find a live support group to help me learn that I was not alone, and also, to allow me to listen to others and hear what helped them so that I might try it myself,” Rosenthal says. “I made a promise that when I was fully recovered I would find a way to give back and provide the support group I had so desperately wanted.”

Rosenthal, a Certified Professional Coach, is now 100% free of PTSD symptoms.

Her work with survivors includes one-on-one sessions and free monthly teleseminars. She says, “PTSD symptoms are universal, regardless of the individual trauma we all experience enormous similarities in the presentation of PTSD symptoms. This means every survivor and caregiver can teach and also learn by interacting in a strong, nurturing and supportive community.”

The support groups will guided by five principles:

1 – Connection. No one heals in isolation, we heal in community.
2 – Support. When we feel lost it helps to have someone reach out a hand.
3 – Innovation. Stabilization through management techniques and coping skills.
4 – Empowerment. Becoming more assertive, organized and focused.
5 – Proaction. Identifying things to do that will progress recovery.

The groups will allow participants to:

• Receive one-on-one professional coaching for personal issues
• Discuss personal challenges
• Share ideas and suggestions for coping and healing
• Positively connect with other survivors
• Build a strong community
• Learn to manage PTSD symptoms
• Develop a support system
• Destress in a nurturing environment
• Access new skills
