Broadband & Smart handheld devices are making bright spot for smarter life

Many researchers pointed out that the wireless broadband offers new chance to Taiwanese manufacturers to penetrate into the global market in the following 10 years. The Taipei International Computer Show (also known as COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2011) is a prominent global trade exhibition with strongest influence power to the ICT industry, the Taipei Computer Association (TCA) today expressed that the broadband communication has already built firmly its network infrastructure where devices such as Tablet PCs, eBook Readers and Smart handheld devices, which bring smarter into our daily lives, will become the bright spot of COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2011.

TCA, co-organizers expressed that the design for this year's exhibition is in accord with to the latest industry trend; particularly in the layout of exhibition floors. The Hall 1 will host hottest products and applications such as Android gadgets, eBooks, touch-control enabled, handheld devices and its related technologies will be grouped located under special pavilions; as re-opening of Hall 2 will home for hottest trend, the Internet of Things (IOT) and its applications; the Nangang Hall will display wide variety of computing systems and embedded systems. The number of forums and events will continue to grow, which the topics of discussion will include new technologies, especially on IOT and smart handheld devices. One of the interesting events is the Best Choice Award where new items including mobile applications and applications in IOT will be included, attracting more global buyers.

TCA released initial forecast that COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2011 will have 1,800 exhibitors, occupying 5,000 standard booths and possibly procurement of US$23 billions worth of ICT hardware.

Wireless broadband and customized interfaces driving new opportunity for Tablet PCs
TCA expressed that the omnipresence of information has already become the characteristic of modern social networking, with many consumer-oriented intelligent handheld devices such as smart phone, Tablet PCs and other new gadgets are a key role player in the new era after the PC and notebook generation for today's consumers in living intelligently.

Take Tablet PC as an example, beside the built-in abilities including internet browsing, emails and news, the functionality of each unit can be greatly improved with download applications from the designated stores (e.g. Android market and Apple's Apps Stores), transforming a tablet PC into a GPS device, game entertainment, language learning, multimedia player and other enhancing applications. With touch-screen enabled, the tablet PC has solved several handicaps especially the middle-age to old consumers by eliminating the some degree of difficulty in internet accessibility with simpler handwriting on the screen.

Up to date, huge enterprises such as Intel, AMD, Microsoft, Acer, MSi, Asus and others are planning to display various types of Tablet PCs with choices of diversified wireless connections, in order to fulfill the market demand accordingly.

eBook readers with multi-functions to meet the rising demand, colored eBooks are hot favorites
One disadvantage of earlier eBook readers was the "fixed" operating systems, which so difficult to expand in the market. The Linux-base Android operating system introduced into the market, it becomes the top choice of many system integrators by incorporating new functionalities such as web toolkit and push emails; which allows eBook readers to become user-friendly for the PC-based users.

The colored e-book is becoming one of the hottest trends in the development of future e-book readers as the manufacturers begin to integrate its design with touch-screen ability on its flat panel display by using Android OS, which colored e-book readers are the promising education tools for more interdynamic teaching platform for network accessibility that enabled user to downloadable thousands of software from the Android Market directly!

Presently, several companies such as Asustek, Hanvon, Inventec, Freescale, Netronix and others are gearing up to display their own versions of e-Book readers with new functions, better performance and with wide range applications at the COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2011.

Government's support gives boost to smart handheld device industry
According to the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), the total production output value of smart hand-held devices in 2010 expected to hit US$16.73 billion (NT$ 501.9 billion), which also included software, system integration and application services. Furthermore, IDB predicted the total production value will reach US$56 billion (NT$1.68 trillion) in 2014. It is a significant figures.

The government will give all-out support and assistance to local companies, which MOEA has recently formed a study group in order to expand smart handheld device and establish an industry for this sector, in cooperation with Taipei Computer Association, arm-in-arm in developing Taiwan as the global promotion of smart handheld devices, by establishing innovation and manufacturer centers, will further attract foreign players to come to Taiwan and pour huge amount of investments at the same time ordering huge volume of Taiwan-made products, bringing an honor to Taiwan in the global ICT industry.

Smart handheld devices drawing huge inquires from buyers from newly developing markets
The www.computex.biz, the top favorite global ICT industry B2B website, has conducted a survey in 2010 from 160 foreign buyers. The result were are astonishing from these overseas buyers as they enlisted smart handheld devices as the most-wanted item to purchase, wanted to meet the right local manufacturers, get the latest handheld devices sequentially to increase their market leads in their own countries including India, Spain, South Korea, Israel, Australia, Indonesia and etc!
