ATHENS ADVISORS AND ENCORE GROUP DELIVER COLLEGE PLANNING TO STUDENT-ATHLETES

Athens Advisors and Encore Group today announced a strategic partnership to enhance college planning options for select lacrosse athletes in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento Valley.

Encore Group’s vision of the “whole athlete” combined with Athens Advisors’ expertise in finding the right college fit, will provide some of the region’s top lacrosse athletes exclusive access to college counseling via workshops and one-on-one consultation. Encore Group’s high school athletes will now be able to access counseling services that have only previously been available through private referral.

According to a 2015 study by the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), California has the second highest student-to-counselor ratio in the nation at 752 to 1. The national average was 482:1 and ASCA’s recommended ratio is 250:1. Given the disparity, Athens Advisors recognized the opportunity to help lacrosse families plan and make important choices during the athlete’s high school years.
