The Solar Future: India 2011 to chart roadmap for India’s emergence as a Solar Superpower

New Delhi, January 13, 2010: The Solar Future: India 2011, the debut two-day international solar/PV conference organized by SOLARPLAZA, a leading international knowledge platform and event organizers in Solar in association with Solar Energy Society of India (SESI), is focusing on charting a clear path for India to become a Solar Superpower. Elevating the event from another industry get together to being one that will bring in a unique mixture of international experts, key policy decision makers at the state and central governments and the who’s who of Indian solar industry to discuss and input on this vision. To be held over the 24th and 25th of January at The Grand, New Delhi, the conference is the first of the major initiatives planned by SOLARPLAZA for the Indian market.

The country is currently meeting the bulk of its peak power requirements through diesel-based power and can be replaced with solar power soon, with sun’s energy being most predictable and available in abundance here”.

Top speakers at the event include; Debashish Majumdar – the Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), Mario Zen Vice President of LDK Solar, the world’s largest vertically integrated manufacturer and Jigar Shah, visionary solar expert and founder of SunEdison and now CEO of the Carbon War Room’. Other experts scheduled to speak at the event include S.K. Shakula, the Head Solar and Director of the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA), AES Solar Energy Managing Director Srinivas Nagabhirava, KfW Bank Project Manager Ramana Reddy, M.M. Vijayvargiya the Technical Director of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC), V.H.
