Press release from: SGS Consumer Testing Services

SGS Extends Service Portfolio of its BioServices and REACH Team

Under the key methodologies of in-vitro-toxicology and bioanalytical effect-screening, our BioServices Team offers standardized and individually tailored test methods, which can be used for regulatory accreditation purposes (e.g. REACH, Medical Devices Directive), as well as for testing the efficiency of cosmetic products.

In a new SGS pilot laboratory, we can also carry out product performance testing in the fields of hygiene and health (http://www.institut-fresenius.de/english/services/consumer_testing_services/bioanalytics/index.shtml) under defined practical conditions. Our expert knowledge stretches from industrial-sized climate control units, air moisturising units, water processing systems, filtering systems, articles of daily use (e.g. razors, tooth brushes, coffee dispensers, cleaning agents, biocidal endued materials) to applied probing tests.

Special interest in our team is directed towards applied industrial and institutional research. This includes the development and optimisation of specific detection methods such as: matrix adaption or lowering of the detection limit. One recently finalised project in this respect was carried out for DGMK (German Scientific Society for Mineral Oil, Natural Gas and Coal e.V.) looking at the microbial contamination of diesel fuels.

With our diverse testing methods, study designs and consulting services, our SGS BioServices/ REACH Team can actively chaperone your company from an early product development stage and further along the production and marketing stage, up to the recycling and disposal (http://www.institut-fresenius.de/english/services/consumer_testing_services/bioanalytics/eco-toxicology/index.shtml) stage, i.e. via the whole product cycle.

Our R&D laboratory complements our BioServices/REACH Team. Our Teams Services furthermore encompass:
• PCR- and ELISA-based detection methods for contaminants
• Device/ article performance tests (hygiene & health)
• Client-specific consulting services, e.g. strategy development, as well as
• Ecotoxicological / biological degradability (http://www.institut-fresenius.de/english/services/consumer_testing_services/bioanalytics/fast_detection_of_micro-organisms/index.shtml) & physical-chemical studies
