Fantasy Art by Frank Frazetta Now Available as Limited Edition Prints From Galaxy Press
Galaxy Press announces a limited edition series of fine art prints by Frank Frazetta. These striking prints, originally commissioned as cover art for books published by Galaxy Press, are available now for 50% off.Hollywood, CA, January 08, 2010 (Straight Line PR) -- Science fiction and fantasy publisher Galaxy Press has announced a new series of fine art prints by the master of fantasy illustration, Frank Frazetta. These prints are reproduced from paintings originally commissioned for L. Ron Hubbard's Battlefield Earth and Mission Earth series, as well as several editions of L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future. Hubbard referred to Frazetta as the "King of Illustration" and indeed, his stellar career bears this out. With the launch of the Illustrators of the Future Contest, companion to the very successful Writers of the Future Contest, Frazetta became one of the contest's most accomplished judges.
Frazetta remained a judge for the Illustrators of the Future Contest from its initial days until his passing earlier this year. In an essay he wrote on the subject of illustration, entitled "The Difference", he began with a short description of his own beginnings in art where he wrote, "I was born with a pencil in my hand. Most artists reach a certain age, and then their eyes open and they start doing art. I was drawing as far back as I can remember. I had unusual talent right then and there, in that I saw things differently. I saw them more accurately. Some people to this day criticize me by saying I exaggerate; that people don't look like that. But they look like that to me. The truth is from the very beginning, instinctively, I drew what I thought I saw."
"I try to give people what I think should be. I've had many, many people look at one of my paintings, and say 'Yeah! That's the way it should be!' Basically, that's my whole approach."
Prints have been made available at a 50% discount and are now only $19.95. Each print is approximately 19" X 13" and include:
* "Dreamflight" by Frank Frazetta from L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume III
* "Moonrider" ( http://bit.ly/FrazettaPrintMoonrider ) by Frank Frazetta from L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume IV
* "Encounter" by Frank Frazetta from L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume V
* "Leaping Lizards" ( http://bit.ly/FrazettaPrintLeapingLizards ) by Frank Frazetta from L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume VI

The Writers of the Future contest was created by L. Ron Hubbard in 1983 as a means of allowing newcomers a chance to have their work seen. Based on its success, a companion Illustrators of the Future contest was also created. This program has provided a starting point for many careers. Over 600 writers and illustrators have seen their name in print over the 25 years of the contests' history. And hundreds of contestants have gone on to successful careers in writing or illustration. At last count, there have been over 700 novels, including New York Times bestsellers, and over 3,000 short stories that have been published by contest winners. In addition to continuing on in the field of speculative fiction, several writers have gone on to publish in genres such as mystery and romance, to write for TV and motion pictures, or become editors and critics.
