Sales recruitment in London is expected to rise in 2011, according to the results of the latest London Business Survey by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and KPMG.

Sevenoaks, Kent, January 07, 2011 -- Sales recruitment in London is expected to rise in 2011, according to the results of the latest London Business Survey by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and KPMG.

In the coming six months, 45 per cent of London businesses are planning to recruit staff as normal. This is significantly up on the 11 per cent of business that had the same intentions last year.

A year ago, some 26 per cent of firms were planning to freeze their recruitment process during the following six months. This has reduced to just 16 per cent of business this year. Geoff Newman, chief executive of online recruitment company Recruitment Genius, commented "across all the industries we recruit for our sales recruitment sector has certainly seem the most significant demand. Hopefully this is a strong sign that business confidence is being restored".

The results of the survey are supported by an earlier piece of research by Orange that found that 26 per cent of small and medium sized businesses, including those offering sales jobs, are planning to add to their workforce in the coming 12 months. Three out of every four firms questioned by Orange said they expected 2011 to be a more prosperous year for their company.

This, together with KPMG figures that show 84 per cent of business regard London as a ‘good’ or ‘very good’ place to be doing business, bodes well for anyone thinking of changing roles in the New Year.
