Give “Claude” A Home for the New Year

(Port Jefferson Station, NY) — “Claude,” a large adult male dog, is available for adoption from Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center.

Claude is a potcake. Potcakes are indigenous mixed-breed dogs found in The Bahamas. The dogs get their name from potcake, the food caked, and maybe burnt, on the bottom of cooking pots. These scrapings were fed to the dogs, hence the association between the name of the food and the dog.

Claude's journey had been anything but ordinary. He began his life without anyone to look after him on the streets and beaches of The Bahamas. He was then flown to New York to begin the next stage of his life. Claude was adopted by a young man who had been looking for a puppy for some time. Unfortunately, the young man fell on hard times several years later and had to surrender him back to Save-A-Pet.

Upon Claude's arrival, the Save-A-Pet staff and volunteers all marveled at his easy going temperament and happy attitude. This fun-loving, well-behaved boy is hoping to be in a new home for the New Year.

Claude is up-to-date with routine shots. He is house-trained and neutered.
