SMALL BUSINESS BUILDS VIRTUAL INTERNSHIP THROUGH TWITTER

December 27, 2010 – Los Angeles, CA – Crystal Wright Live is the small business of its name sake, Crystal Wright, which is located in Los Angeles and though few outside of the world of the hair, makeup, and fashion industry may be familiar with it, that is about to change thanks to a new virtual internship that has added 34 remarkable people dedicating their skills, time, and energy to promote the brand. In an economy that made growth for the small company difficult, Ms. Wright pursued the idea to build a virtual Internship to promote her workshops, books, Webinars, and speaking services in which the Interns could work for her 100% via the Internet. She turned to the social media platform of Twitter in the hopes to draw a large pool of qualified applicants that could make up a dream team of interns to help in her endeavors. She had hundreds of application requests within days of announcing the Internship, over 125 submitted their applications along with a resume and cover letter, and from those she chose 34 to found what she hopes to be an annual Internship program, all through Twitter.

The announcement was first made in late November and by December 20 she had notified the new team of their acceptance. The skills represented range from marketing and budget planning to Web design and video editing. The new interns include college students, established business owners, a college professor, and a few looking to make a career change and hoping the internship will add to their resume and make them more marketable. Since all the internship projects were designed to be done through the web, the intern could live anywhere in the world, opening up a major pool of applicants from which to choose. The interns are from both sides of the US, as well as Canada and Barbados. Ms. Wright was also able to find two interns to work with her locally on projects in the Los Angeles area. The interns were able to choose the number of hours they wanted to work per week and whether they wanted a 6 month or 12 month internship. Since the announcement of the new interns the news has prompted at least 30 people to inquire as to how to apply for next year’s internship.

Ms. Wright said: “I had hoped to find enough qualified and well matching applicants to build a dream team for my business. I knew searching through social media would give me the platform I needed and those users would be the very people that would be interested in a virtual internship. With this group I will be able to see my company grow exponentially in 2011 and they are all very eager to begin the first of the New Year, as am I.”
