Mobile email breaks away from the “only-for-the-suits” niche.

6th December 2010 - London. janusNET (http://www.janusnet.com) today announced the immediate availability of janusGATE Mobile, a unique solution which enables organisations to manage and control email delivery to any smartphone, including iPhone, iPad, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile and Blackberry.

The escalating popularity of smartphones means that Chief Information Officers are under huge pressure to allow employees to connect their smartphone devices to the organisation's e-mail servers. However this can introduce a minefield of policy, control and data leakage issues.

Greg Colla, Managing Director at janusNET says: "Convention has it that the provision of mobile e-mail services should be limited to senior executives and mobile workers. The main constraint to further rollout has been the huge expense of deploying and operating a large fleet of fully managed, approved, and policy controlled company smartphones."

"To date, the concept of an employee 'Bring-Your-Own-Phone' solution - although attractive because of its low cost and flexibility - has not been appropriate for many organisations due to the risk of exposing corporate information, as well as the complexity of supporting different applications on different smartphones."

Colla continued, "janusGATE Mobile allows an organisation to securely open up mobile email to all staff on virtually any kind of smartphone. No handset modification is needed, no new applications are deployed, and there is zero end user training required.”

“At long last, staff can be allowed to use their own phones to connect to the corporate email server, while the organisation keeps total control over the information that is actually delivered to the device. This provides security controlled mobile e-mail at a fraction of the cost of traditional sandbox solutions, with the added benefits that it is far simpler to deploy and manage, and critically it retains all the smartphones email features – which means user acceptance is 100%.“ said Colla.

Mike Bienvenu, Technical Director at UK Distributor Softek, adds: "We are extremely excited about the janusGATE mobile solution. For organisations questioning the complexity of mobile email management, janusGATE Mobile alleviates these concerns. Without the need for additional applications to be deployed to the phone, and without the need to reconfigure corporate firewalls, janusGATE Mobile is certainly quick and easy to deploy. As an added bonus, end users continue to use the device's native e-mail client, without any of its functionality removed."

Colla concludes, "janusGATE Mobile makes use of staff time away from their desktops, and takes advantage of an already existing smartphone fleet to provide a productivity tool relevant to the whole of the enterprise."
