Demand Leads Ascend to Open Chapter in Connecticut & Westchester

New York, NY. December 6, 2010 — GE will be hosting the inaugural launch of the Connecticut & Westchester chapter of Ascend in its Stamford office. The event will be attended by professionals from the area, and representatives from founding sponsors GE, Deloitte and HSBC. Ascend is a national non-profit organization focusing on Pan-Asian leadership and professional development through mentoring and building critical skills to form lasting business relationships.

In just five years, Ascend has seen its membership base grow to over 5000 across the country. Ascend has expanded into industries with a high concentration of Asian professionals. These include but are not limited to the finance, technology, professional, accounting, consumer packaged goods, and manufacturing industries.

Ashok Shenoy, RBS Senior Vice President & Chapter Co-President states that the Connecticut & Westchester area “has a large number of corporations and a huge population of Pan-Asians who could benefit from the leadership development, mentoring, and networking programs offered by Ascend”, and that “We're excited to launch the Ascend CT chapter to serve Pan-Asian professionals and students” in that area.

Ascend aims to enhance the presence, influence and visibility of current and future Pan-Asian business leaders through various programs. These include the Stanford GSB Advanced Leadership Program, the Ascend Corporate Executive Initiative (CEI), career development and mentoring events. The national organization is based in New York City, and has 12 professional and 23 student chapters all over the United States.
