A UK based Company that specialises in property sales and rentals in Malta has welcomed reports of the creation of a thousand new IT related jobs on the island by 2014.
An American hi-tech company, DayBreak Data, is reported to have started operating from Malta this week with plans to create 1,000 jobs by 2014.
Ray Woods from UK based www.maltabuyproperty.co.uk said,
“This is great news for Malta. The population is only 400,000 – less than half of that of Birmingham, so 1,000 new jobs is a massive boost to the island. It is also great news for those thinking of investing in Malta.
The housing market is still buoyant in Malta as the Banks have not experienced the liquidity problems like here or in the US and other parts of Europe. Much of this impetus previously has come from its great location and the increase in the number of low cost flights to the island. More recently, it is also proving increasingly attractive to private and corporate investors.
With development land now in short supply, prices have been increasing rather than retreating and we are swamped with enquiries from investors and those seeking to relocate to the island from here in the UK, Australia, South Africa, German, Spain, France, Italy and Scandinavia.
We really hope that this Company’s plans become reality.”
The Company, ‘Daybreak’ is reported to be owned by Doug Monahan, an Austin, Texas based entrepreneur, and specialises in contact list databases.
Mr Monahan was quoted by the Times of Malta as saying.
“The positions we are hiring for include data entry, data verification, web search expert, database administrator, web programmer, mysql programmers, php programmers, and roughly 30 sales people. We will be receiving roughly 50 per cent of our business from the United States and the other 50 per cent from Europe,” he added.
…..”There is an effective corporate tax rate of five per cent vs. 40 per cent here in the United States, the Country speaks English fluently compared to most foreign countries so I don’t have to learn another language, the Country is based on the English legal system, it has excellent intellectual property laws and is encouraging US businessmen to set up their company with incentives and tax breaks. Great laws, great people, island setting – what’s not to love?”
