Engage in Learning shows flagship programmes at Learning Technologies
The e-learning supplier, Engage in Learning, is putting its new state-of-the-art e-learning programmes on show at its stand at the Learning Technologies exhibition, scheduled for ExCel London, on 13th and 14th February. These flagship programmes include – in the Compliance category - the Criminal Finances Act and two programmes on Unconscious Bias. However, Engage in Learning has over 100 separate e-learning programmes available, in the categories of compliance, health & safety, leadership & management, IT & project management, customer service and business skills.
“Last year’s ‘star performer’ was a programme on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR),” said Chris Horseman, Engage in Learning’s CEO. “In only a few months in the first part of 2018, this programme – which, of course, is still popular - was sold to some 300 UK-based organisations. Moreover, tens of thousands of individual learners throughout the EU completed the programme at that time.
“Having built an international reputation for high quality e-learning materials, we expect other Engage in Learning programmes, such as Essentials in Equality and Diversity or, maybe, Goals and Guidelines for High Performance, to do well in 2019,” he said.
Owing to customer demand, Engage in Learning’s programme on unconscious bias - intended for managers – has been augmented, in January, by a new course covering the subject but which is focused on helping all levels of staff to identify unconscious bias and take steps of overcome it.
Kate Carter, Engage in Learning’s Operations and Marketing Manager, commented, “Unconscious bias can become a problem if it’s used to justify treating others hurtfully or without respect.
“This is especially true where staff deal with the public, customers and stakeholders because customer service staff are the ‘face’ of the brand. Their attitudes and actions represent the organisation on a personal and daily basis.”
The other most recent addition to the Engage in Learning portfolio examines the impact on organisations – and employees - of Part Three of the UK’s Criminal Finances Act 2017. This section of the Act deals with ‘corporate offences of failure to prevent facilitation of tax evasion’, setting out offences that hold corporations and partnerships criminally liable when they fail to prevent their employees, agents, or others who provide services on their behalf from criminally facilitating tax evasion.
The Act, which targets corruption, money laundering and tax evasion, aims to recoup criminal assets and is part of the UK Government’s strategic approach to reducing financial crime. While tax evasion is already an offence, this Act widens the net of culpability to every employee in an organisation – not just senior managers.
Kate Carter added, “Since the Act makes it clear that everyone in an organisation has a responsibility to prevent tax evasion, this Engage in Learning e-learning programme should be much in demand from those who want their organisation and its employees to remain operating within the law’s demands.”
The new criminal finances act programme – along with Engage in Learning’s extensive portfolio, which includes customised courses as well as off-the-shelf programmes – will be on show on stand H05 at the Learning Technologies event in London’s Excel, on 13th and 14th February 2019.
