Press release from: Innov-X Systems

/ PR Agency: Armada Group
Woburn, MA, ---Visitors to Innov-X’s Booth 311 at the AAFS 59th Annual Meeting† will learn how X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) in forensic science applications can perform rapid elemental analysis and gain valuable information at the scene. In just seconds, materials may be identified and quantified. Investigators can now analyze evidence with the Innov-X Alpha Series™ portable X-ray Fluorescence analyzer without altering, damaging, or transporting evidence to a remote laboratory. They can check for gunshot residue, automotive paint tracers, methamphetamine or other “clan-lab” indicators, environmental markers, and much more. Using hand-held XRF, investigators can identify victims (even if decomposed, disarticulated, or incinerated) through restorative dental materials, such as resins, castings, crowns, posts, and precious metals*. Additionally, items such as jewelry can be analyzed to gain valuable information by rapidly distinguishing similar looking materials through elemental analysis*.

Use handheld XRF Innov-X analyzers in demanding applications. Criminalistics, Odontology, and many other forensic science applications are easily accomplished with the Alpha’s state-of-the-art software, special filters, tube windows and power control. The Alpha Series provides on-the-spot, fast and precise elemental analysis from phosphorus to uranium. It’s the only handheld XRF unit capable of analyzing down to phosphorus in the periodic table of elements. When checking for lighter elements --Al, Si & Mg –an internal vacuum option is offered. Innov-X’s breakthrough design uses an x-ray tube in a compact unit with a PDA for unprecedented flexibility in a portable analyzer. A rear-facing display makes the unit easy to read, supplementing the color PDA screen. The Innov-X System offers the performance, portability and versatility required for field crime scene investigations.

The Innov-X handheld analyzer runs with up to 25-element software suites using fundamental parameters, spectral matching and/or empirically generated calibrations. Data is stored in binary format which is virtually impossible to alter. Wireless data transfer enables rapid information transfer from remote locations. Leading edge technology such as Bluetooth and others being developed will continue to “future-proof” the Alpha Series™.
