Press release from: eDoctor, Inc.

EPRESCRIBING AS THE EASY NO-COST FIRST STEP TOWARDS THE EMR

Newcrop, LLC has joined with eDoctor to deliver the nation’s first e-prescribing software designed to seamlessly upgrade to any one of many electronic medical records (EMRs). Thus, eDoctor e-prescribing becomes a first critical step towards Meaningful Use and EMR adoption.

Rockville, Maryland, November 12, 2010 : eDoctor, Inc., a web-based health IT company, and NewCrop, a SureScripts Gold-certified e-prescribing system, today announced “Start Today, Choose Tomorrow:” Free e-prescribing enables doctors to take immediate and full advantage of federal incentives under MIPPA., TODAY. Then, review multiple EMR choices, and take the seamless jump to your chosen EMR, TOMORROW.

Dr. Ingrid Chung, a Virginia internist and Co-Chair of eDoctor’s Medical Advisory Board, said, “I qualified for my 2% the first day I implemented the eDoctor e-prescribing system in my office. Frankly, this is a no-brainer. The decision process for an EMR was intimidating. Rather than facing that immediate struggle to see if our practice could absorb the cost and the staff time of implementing a full-blown EMR, we got started with e-prescribing today. ”

Lawrence Susnow, MD, President and Chief Medical Officer of Newcrop, LLC said, “Through this partnership, healthcare practitioners will be able to easily utilize the NewCrop e-prescribing system and eDoctor’s Health IT Platform, enabling quick processing of the 25 electronic Medicare prescriptions needed to qualify for the MIPPA 2% Medicare reimbursements. Our unique program allows a quick start, creating an infrastructure foundation upon which a practice can transparently install an EMR. In other words, ‘Start Today’ with e-prescribing and ‘Choose Tomorrow’ with an EMR system that meets your needs.”

eDoctor, Inc. anticipates announcing the initial list of participating EMRs in the next few weeks. Interfacing technology is already in place, supporting this rapid roll-out. Leading EMRs will offer a menu of choices that will fit the needs of each medical practice. Doctors will be able to review their options and work directly with each EMR. Once the decision is made, patient data is migrated and the 90 days to Meaningful Use begin.

The standalone e-prescribing software optionally comes with eDoctor’s proprietary “Live Data Syncing” middleware, increasing practice efficiency by eliminating data double entry. When the time comes, all data may be transparently moved to the chosen EMR. Since rolling out the e-prescribing system in a pilot program over the past two months, the response has been overwhelming, with doctors signing up from across the country. Doctors also responded positively to the implementation of Apple’s® iPad® in the eDoctor e-prescribing program.
