Karl Richter: The years 1958 - 1963 – Contemporary Documents (Volume 2)
"Karl Richter - Contemporary Documents: 1951 - 1957" Volume 1, covered the early years (1951 - 1957) of Karl Richter in Munich, on the basis from contemporary documents (programs, reviews, newspaper clippings, interviews, photos, etc.) and/or called back into memory.
On November 17, 2011 the second volume Karl Richter – Contemporary Documents, the years 1958 – 1963, with 213 pages with many photos and scans will be available, as a printed book and as an eBook (PDF). Editor and publisher of the series is Johannes Martin.
The years 1958 to 1963 where marked by numerous studio recording, some of them are still standard-setting today recordings like Bach's St. Matthew Passion and Mass in B minor, or Mozart's Requiem.
Karl Richter and the Munich Bach-Choir extended their activities and influence beyond Munich to Europe and overseas. Regular concert tours to Lucerne, Salzburg, Vienna, Buenos Aires, in the U.S., a guest performance of Karl Richter with the Munich Bach Choir and Bach Orchestra in Italy and France (Paris), the Ansbach Bach Festival and concerts in Ottobeuren and Salzburg are now an integral part of the annual program of Richter. And yet for Karl Richter, Munich remains the center of his musical life and Bach culture.

The launch of the publication series is connected with the upcoming anniversaries in 2011, Karl Richter's 30th day of death on 15 February and his 85th Birthday on 15 October. It is
planned to complete the documentary series 'time capsules' with a total of 6 volumes by the summer 2013.

Backgrounder zum Herausgeber Johannes Martin
und dem Verlag, Ton- und Videostudio Conventus Musicus, Dettelbach
Johannes Martin, geb. 1943 in Würzburg, studierte nach dem Abitur Klavier und Schulmusik am Bayerischen Staatskonservatorium in Würzburg und an der Musikhochschule in München, u.a. Klavier bei Maria Landes-Hindemith. Von 1965 - 1970 war er Mitglied des Münchener Bach-Chors, von 1970 - 1989 Schulmusiker an Gymnasien in Bamberg, Niederaltaich und Münsterschwarzach. Mit Unterstützung des Egbert-Gymnasium und der Abtei Münsterschwarzach gründete er 1982 die Konzert- und Schallplattenreihe „Conventus Musicus“. 1989 verließ er den Schuldienst und baute den gleichnamigen Musikverlag und das Ton- und Videostudio Conventus Musicus auf. Seit dieser Zeit arbeitet er in Bild und Ton u.a. für die Würzburger Dommusik und die Abtei Münsterschwarzach. Sein besonderes Interesse aber gilt Film- und Buchdokumentationen der fränkischen Heimat und zurzeit vor allem dem Projekt „Karl Richter in München“.
Einen besonderen Schwerpunkt bildet zurzeit das Projekt „Karl Richter in München 1951 - 1981 – Zeitzeugen erinnern sich“. Die Buchdokumentation ist im November 2005 erschienen und die dreiteilige Videodokumentation (insgesamt 4 DVDs, ca. 319 Minuten Gesamtlaufzeit) zwischen Juli 2006 und November 2007.
Den anderen Schwerpunkt des Programms von Conventus Musicus bilden Buch-, Ton und Filmdokumentationen zu ‘Kultur und Natur in Franken’. Darüber hinaus entstehen im Ton- und Videostudio Dokumentationen und Serien, zum Teil in langjähriger Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlern und Institutionen, u. a. für die Würzburger Dommusik, mit Paul Damjakob und der Benediktinerabtei Münsterschwarzach.
