Author and artist Lesley Fletcher combines art and rhyme with dialogue in her latest book Hey Angel! A magical self esteem book aimed at pre-school age children.

MONTREAL – Nov. 12, 2010. ‘Hey Angel!’ features a charming, out of the ordinary angel and her interactions with a typical young boy named Johnny. Johnny’s daily queries lead up to his ultimate question – Will the angel he loves always be with him? - The answer caters to young readers’ innocence and pureness drawing them to the possibility that they too can have an angel in their lives.

The premise of using an unusual sweet-talking, feisty angel to promote early self-esteem came to Fletcher as she realized that everyone could use an angel at some point in their lives. “A child’s imagination knows no boundaries. It is the best concept I could think of as a very early introduction to the importance of being able to rely on oneself.”, explains the author.

The underlying idea of self-love and self-dependency makes this thoughtfully illustrated and designed book a tool for not only the imagination but it provides visual stimulation and challenge as well. The reader is gently prompted into embracing self-discovery through simply written dialogue between the angel and Johnny, making this book suitable as both an early-reader and a bed time story. ‘Hey Angel!’ spreads wonderment and magic while encouraging questions and conversation.

Lesley Fletcher is a writer and an illustrator. Whenever possible she travels with Habitat for Humanity to help build homes while forming cultural bridges in developing countries. She currently resides in the suburbs of Montreal, Quebec. Fletcher has written and illustrated three books: Prom Girls: A North American Rite of Passage, All I Want for Christmas Is a Wishmas Tree, and Hey Angel! Her fourth book, Healing With Words, is intended for release in March 2011.
