Parker, CO, November 8, 2010 - Today EquatorTrekking.com announced a new Andes adventure trip - DISCOVERING THE ANDES, a 7 day, 6 night action packed itinerary highlighting the best of the Andes. The program is designed for mountain lovers who wish to discover the Ecuadorian Andes from North to South. We run through Ecuador to visit the most famous handicraft market of South America in Otavalo, the historic center of Quito and a fascinating farm near the National Park Cotopaxi while climbing three of the most beautiful mountains of the country. An experience you must not lose! You have the adventure of the mountain, the culture of Ecuador and the peace of the farms.

Highlights of this new Andes adventure include: Mountain, Trekking, Andean Paramos, Llamas, Alpacas, Show Mountains, Lakes, Expeditions, Safety, Specialized Guides, Native Flora & Fauna, Otavalo Market, Volcanoes Imbabura, Rucu Pichincha, Telepheric, Avenue of the volcanos, Quito, Hacienda la Alegría, Sincholagua volcano.

Andes Adventure Itinerary:

Day 1
Transfer and accommodation at Hotel Stubel Suites.

Day 2
Otavalo Market. We will take you to one of the most famous markets in South America to know handicrafts and hand made clothes. Stay at Casa Del Sol located in the area of the Protected Forest of the "Cascada de Peguche" in the indian community of Peguche, privileged and energetic place, where you may enjoy surprising sunsets and sites.

Day 3
Early morning departure to Ibarra through Zuleta and La Merced. A hard climbing starts from this place. The paramos of Imbabura are flowered to the top. We will leave behind the city of Ibarra and Lake Yahuarcocha. If the day is clear, we will be able to see the Cubilche and the Cayambe volcano. We will continue to climb the rock without any technical difficulty and will go through sands to reach the top and enjoy a marvelous view of Lake San Pablo and the city of Otavalo. It is a hard ascending that requires no technical knowledge but a good physical condition and acclimation. Ascending will take between 6 to 7 hours and descending, about 3. At night, return to Quito to rest at the hotel.

Day 4
Ascending to the Rucu Pichincha – This peak will allow us to have an excellent view of the city of Quito and other volcanoes of the mountain range such as the Antisana, Cotopaxi, Pasochoa and Iinizas. The telepheric will take us to the base where our walk will start and continue for about 3 to 4 hours until we reach the top and 1 hour to descend. Return to Quito for a rest and at night a visit to the historic center, the colonial part of the city with its small streets, churches, convents and theaters that will impress you with their beauty.

Day 5
Free day at the farm “La Alegría” – This beautiful farm is located in the Avenue of the Volcanoes. The energy that you will be able to feel is strong and the sites are marvelous. There are many activities to select such as trails, walks, horseback exercise and rappelling. You may be able to rest or select any of the activities. (Rustic men demonstrations: Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Day 6
Ascending to the Sincholagua volcano – Early departure towards the National Park Cotopaxi and near the base of the Sincholagua through Machachi. Ascending will be done through the northwest side of the Sincholagua and will pass and extended paramo to reach the rock. The climb is physically strong with some snow and rock that is frequently done without crampons. The last part is an escalade of 25 meters to reach the top. (Total time of the climb is between 5 to 6 hours approximately). Descending is in rappel, making it an even more enjoyable experience and entertainment to the Sincholagua. The return will take near 2 hours to the base of the volcano and the cars. This mountain is located in the middle of the Avenue of the volcanoes and has a marvelous view of the Andes mountain range.
