Solar park Thundorf

In Thundorf, Lower Franconia, 8,976 solar modules are now producing about two million kilowatt-hours of green energy per year.

Dornach near Munich, November 2nd, 2010. In October, Gehrlicher Solar AG completed another photovoltaic installation 20 kilometres north of the city of Schweinfurt. Solar park Thundorf was connected to the grid on October 29th. After the completion, Gehrlicher will also be responsible for operation and maintenance of the park.

The solar plant has a peak performance of 2.1 megawatts and encompasses an area of 6.5 hectares. 8,976 Yingli modules turn sunlight into energy. One Siemens inverter converts direct current into alternating current, which can be fed into the public grid.

Solar park Thundorf produces about two million kilowatt hours of green energy per year, which covers the yearly power requirement of 600 households. CO2 savings amount to 1,200 tons per year. According to the EEG interim arrangement for solar plants on arable land, the produced energy is compensated with 28.43 cents per kilowatt-hour.
