Press release from: Pharmacy OneSource

Label generation for batch processing eliminates duplicate cleanroom processes and promotes the safe use of compounded medications

Bellevue, WA – Pharmacy OneSource, Inc., software-as-a-service provider to more than 1,300 hospitals in the United States, launched a new label module available for Simplifi 797, a web-based quality assurance software for USP 797 sterile compounding compliance.

Having labeling capabilities attached to Simplifi 797 means a reduction in potential for data entry errors while providing a consistent labeling format. Simplifi 797 can track lot numbers and label creation within the software, creating a robust audit trail. The new functionality streamlines the labeling process, eliminating a need for duplicate entry to produce labels.

"Providing consistent medication information from drug labels and usage instructions is essential for the correct storage and safe use of medication," said Eric Kastango, MBA, RPh, FASHP. "The new label module allows users to create clear, accurate and consistent labels within the batching feature of Simplifi 797. Having the ability to identify batches of drugs by lot number provides a key medication delivery safety feature."

Label module users will be able to integrate information from their batch processing recipe templates into a label creator. The labels can have linear or 2D barcodes, come in customizable sizes and print to any printer. Users can select what criteria to print, including pertinent instructions, expiration dates and lot numbers.
