Press release from: Logos Communications

/ PR Agency: Logos Communications, Inc.
Ann Arbor, Mich., Oct. 26, 2010: BodegaBid, the largest social marketplace for virtual goods, has been named a winner in the Internet category of the TiE20 Midwest Industry Awards, to be presented at the TiECon Midwest 2010 event, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 29, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at The Henry in Dearborn, Mich. BodegaBid will also participate in the two-day TiECon Midwest 2010 showcase, Thurs., Oct. 28 and Fri., Oct. 29.

BodegaBid Founder Mark Sendo, who launched BodegaBid (www.bodegabid.com) as a Facebook application in October 2009, said the TiE20 honor is as much one for gamers that trade virtual items and currency as it is for BodegaBid. “We are very proud of the work we have done pioneering and launching the company for gamers, and will graciously accept this award on their behalf.” Gerry Miller, BodegaBid’s Chief Executive Officer, added, “We’re thrilled to be recognized by TiECon as a leader in our space, and look forward to growing Michigan-based jobs and revenue.”

The firm is the world’s first sanctioned multi-platform virtual goods marketplace, making it a natural leader in the category. The BodegaBid shop serves as a place where users can trade their goods to earn credits, allowing them to bid on other goods.

TiE20 is not the first to recognize the potential for BodegaBid; the company was selected by the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan to present at Michigan Growth Capital Symposium in 2010.

Competition for the TiE20 honor was keen, with judges including prominent entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, corporate executives and other domain experts.

Winners, including BodegaBid, will participate in a live showcase at the two-day TiEcon Midwest 2010, Oct. 28 and 29, also at The Henry.

While the TiE20 winners are diverse in terms of size, progress, maturity and location, they share a common thread of innovation, ingenuity, strong management teams and overall quality of ideas. “The Detroit chapter of TiE introduced TiE20 Midwest Industry Awards last year to great success that gave increased visibility and connectivity to our winners. Even this year, we have received an overwhelming response,” said Mateen Syed and Luxmi Dutt Sharma, TiE20 Chairs.

Tel Ganesan, TiE Detroit president, added that this year’s winners will serve as role models “for all entrepreneurs aspiring success in this dynamic and demanding marketplace.”
