Press release from: FIZ Karlsruhe

FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure and Max Planck Society (MPG) invite to the third eSciDoc Days / presentation of eSciDoc infrastructure and applications / users tell about their experiences

Karlsruhe, October 2010 – On November 16 and 17, 2010, the third eSciDoc Days will be held at the Royal Library in Copenhagen, Denmark. The event is held by FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure, and the Max Planck Society – Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL). In a strategic partnership. the two organizations are developing an open source eResearch infrastructure for web-based scientific work in a multidisciplinary environment. eSciDoc supports the entire scientific value generation process, from the first idea to experiments, data analysis and evaluation, and the publication of the results.

The growing number of users who work with the eSciDoc software and develop applications that are based on it shows that eSciDoc is well accepted by the community. At this year‘s eSciDoc Days, existing applications from various scientific disciplines will be presented. Workshops and lectures with practical relevance will give a comprehensive overview of eSciDoc and how to employ it. Tutorials will give the participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with installing the eSciDoc infrastructure and developing eSciDoc applications. There is also room to discuss future developments with the experts from FIZ Karlsruhe and the MPDL.

The keynote speakers at this year‘s eSciDoc Days will give an overview of current developments in scientific communication: Birte Christensen-Dalsgaard from the University of Copenhagen will hold a lecture on “The change of scholarly communication - and some consequences“ and Dr. Laurent Romary, INRIA & HUB-IDSL, will talk about “Outlining a scholarly workbench - publication and data as a continuum”.

The program of the eSciDoc Days 2010 is available at https://www.escidoc.org/; registration deadline: October 22, 2010.
