Michigan Adds to the List of Qualifying Medical Marijuana Conditions
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) recently added eleven more conditions that qualify for medical marijuana prescriptions. Those are as follows:Arthritis;
Autism;
Chronic pain;
Colitis;
Inflammatory Bowel Disease;
Obsessive-compulsive disorder;
Parkinson’s;
Rheumatoid arthritis’
Spinal cord injury;
Tourette’s syndrome;
Ulcerative colitis.
These new conditions are now added to the existing conditions which qualify Michigan residents for a medical marijuana program registry card and are as follows:
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder;
Cancer;
Glaucoma;
Positive status for Human Immunodeficiency Virus;
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome;
Hepatitis C;
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis;
Crohn’s Disease;
Agitation of Alzheimer’s disease;
Nail Patella, or the treatment of these conditions;
A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition or its treatment that results in wasting syndrome; severe and chronic pain; severe nausea; seizures, and severe and persistent muscle spasms.
The additional conditions have the potential to add thousands of new registrants who may obtain medical marijuana in Michigan. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to apply for a prescription card from the Michigan Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation.
The additions to the list come just months before Michigan residents will consider a November ballot proposal to legalize recreational marijuana in Michigan.
